How to boost your IELTS results

Like any other candidate, I believe your objective is to achieve the highest score possible when taking the IELTS, right?

But, obtaining the right score on each criterion can be a bit overwhelming.

This is why adequate exam prep through IELTS Singapore programmes and getting a decent amount of rest the night before the exam date is the two main ingredients for a good score.

We have here gathered some tricks and tips, offered in the universities in the Lion City that you can use to get a better score when aiming to qualify for the IELTS test.

  • Keep in mind to stick to the suggested timing of the test in each section to maximise your grades!
  • Familiarise yourself with the situation, speakers, and sounds by using the examples given at the start of the Listening section.
  • You may run out of time to complete all IELTS sections if you try to understand every word and phrase you read in each of the paper.
  • Reviewing the Reading section’s example answer can help you come up with a correct outcome for the original IELTS section questions.
  • For the Written section, take a moment to make a rough outline and ensure that you have organised your ideas and thoughts before writing them out on the.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to check your work and review your essay question for expressing your ideas and opinions adequately, based on what you want to deliver.
  • During the spoken part of the IELTS, Make sure to address the examiner directly and avoid speaking to the recording equipment, so as to make eye contact when expressing yourself verbally.
  • Try to explain at least one point whenever you give a “yes” or “no” answer to what you were asked by the examiner, and provide a little more detail.
  • Try to focus only on the questions that relate to the part that is currently being played by a recording, in the Listening section.
  • Use the short periods of time that you are often given in between recording sections to prepare answers to the questions before you start talking!
  • Remember that the order of the information presented in the recordings is what lays a draft for the Listening section questions followed.
  • Before you transfer answers to the Answer Sheet, don’t forget to check your spelling and grammar.
  • Always read the instructions given in some Reading tasks to verify your answers are correct for the questions in each IELTS section, thereby reusing words from the text.
