Skagen Falster 2 Review

The sub-brand of fossil, Skagen has a good record of making products that are fancier and have a luxurious feel in them. With Skagen’s new smartwatch the Skagen Falster 2, the company is continuing its trends. The Falster 2 has a magnificent design and an awesome built quality but for a price tag of around $300, it’s the least we can expect. The Full review of the New Skagen Falster 2 is given below and you can also buy this using Shopclues Sale with discounted prices.

Design and Build Quality

Right out of its “see-through” box the Skagen Falster 2 has a circular 40mm case with a thickness of 11mms that feels quite impressive and attractive but if you’re not a fan of circles this watch is probably not for you.

On the right-hand side, the Skagen Falster 2 has two buttons and another rotating crown in the middle. The two buttons can be remapped to any app or feature of your preference and the crown in the middle can be used for scrolling through menus and options. The Skagen Falster 2 can be equipped with a number of straps, one of the best straps that we’d recommend you get this watch with is the “black magnetic steel-mesh”, the strap just makes your watch look 10x times more professional and luxurious when compared to the standard strap that comes with the base model.

Display

The display on the Skagen Falster 2 gets enough bright that it is easy to use the watch in outdoor conditions.

The Skagen Falster 2 packs a 1.19 inches AMOLED display with some averagely sized bezels. The resolution on this thing is 320x 320, which is a bit lower than what the other devices in the market have to offer but for the most part, it does the work.

Features and Interface

The Skagen Falster 2 has most of the features that you’d expect from a smartwatch in this price range including GPS, Nfc, a Heart Rate Sensor for tracking your heart rate and an IP67 rated water resistivity up to 30 meters. The company also offers silicon straps with the Skagen Falster 2, so you can still purchase this watch even if you’re more into fitness and physical training.

One of the major drawbacks of the Skagen Falster 2 is that it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC, which is a very old chipset and can make the UI lag sometimes.

The Skagen Falster 2 is running on the wear OS by Google, which is an impressive OS but it just doesn’t do well on older chipsets like the Snapdragon Wear 2100.

The Skagen Falster 2 has a 512mb of RAM and 4 gigabytes of internal storage which is more than enough for an average person’s day to day use.

Battery Life

The Skagen Falster 2 has a 300mAh battery, which sounds normal for a smartwatch but it is not. The battery on the Skagen Falster 2 is kind of just okay. It’s not bad, it’s definitely not great, it’s just okay. Speaking in more simple terms, you are going to have to charge your smartwatch every evening. The Skagen Falster 2 comes with a pretty small magnetic charger, there is also a battery saver mode in the Skagen Falster 2 that can be enabled in the settings. In terms of battery life various options available and one can avail those using Paytm Offers with great deals.

Price and availability

The price of the Skagen Falster 2 is highly dependent on what strap you buy it with but still, the base model of the Skagen Falster 2 with a silicon strap is available for a price of $275 or less than $300 dollars depending on your location. You can buy the Skagen Falster with a number of different straps depending upon your choice and budget, some of the straps are the magnetic steel-mesh strap, the reflective silver strap, the brown leather strap, and many others.

Verdict

The Skagen Falster 2 is a nice fancy looking watch but it has its downfalls. One of the biggest one being the old Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, the performance on the Skagen Falster 2 is good but sometimes the watch can feel slow and it’s probably because of the old chipset it’s using. Another one of Skagen Falster 2’s downfall is its battery life, with a price like this the battery life is again “just okay”.
