First win for Nautech, UltraSoC’s new partner in Russia
This is the second time that ELVEES, a leading provider of world-class semiconductor products with heterogeneous multicore SoC architectures for video analytics, has chosen to include UltraSoC in one of its systems-on-chip (SoCs) – now opting to use UltraSoC for designs using both MIPS and ARM processor architectures.
UltraSoC’s embedded analytics will help to ensure maximum performance and reliability of the ELVEES custom low-power ASIC for IP-cameras. This latest ELVEES ASIC design is a next-generation multi-platform multi-core SoC that enables the development of a new generation of IP cameras with video analysis (CV – computer vision) and a wide range of OEM modules, applicable across a broad spectrum of devices including robotics with AI (artificial intelligence).
Given the demanding applications and the use of a complex heterogeneous multi-core SoC architecture, ELVEES’ requirements went far beyond the capabilities of traditional vendor-specific debug architectures such as ARM CoreSight. UltraSoC was selected for the benefits it brings in terms of faster time-to-market and reduced risk; as well as the potential to use embedded intelligent analytics to ensure optimized performance throughout the product lifecycle – even after the chip is designed into an end product.
ELVEES, founded in 1991, is based in Moscow. UltraSoC announced in June it was expanding its presence in Russia, via a strategic partnership with Nautech, one of the region’s leading technical representatives. Nautech has played a key role in securing this second collaboration between UltraSoC and ELVEES.
“UltraSoC’s universal debug, monitoring and analytics platform provides support for all processor architectures, making the company an ideal partner for embedding into our custom video processing technology,” said ELVEES General Director, Prof. Jaroslav Petrichkovich. “The applications we support are, without exception, extremely demanding. It’s therefore critical we work with technology partners who understand the importance of speed, performance, reliability and system availability. We value UltraSoC’s technology in giving us insight into these factors at the deepest level, embedding monitoring and analysis into our devices. We don’t compromise on our technology choices – it’s what our customers expect of ELVEES. UltraSoC continues to be perfectly aligned with our objectives and our customers’ needs.”
UltraSoC CEO, Rupert Baines, said: “ELVEES’ products bring powerful video processing capabilities to very demanding security and safety applications. UltraSoC is delighted to strengthen its relationship with ELVEES, and to have the opportunity to be part of a mission critical application.”
Andrei Greben, Nautech CEO, commented: “Following the formation of our partnership with UltraSoC, we are delighted to now be actively involved in supporting them in projects in Russia. ELVEES empowers some extreme mission-critical security applications and UltraSoC is a perfect fit. We are proud to be involved in this and to help deliver the benefits of UltraSoC’s embedded analytics to customers in Russia and beyond.”
The heterogeneous multi-core processor architecture at the heart of ELVEES’ powerful solutions, combined with UltraSoC’s toolbox of silicon IP, allows SoCs to monitor and analyze system behavior in real-time and under real operating conditions. By embedding UltraSoC, these capabilities enable identification of unexpected behavior and can provide hardware-based protection against malicious attacks and malfunctions. ELVEES now uses both ARM and MIPS architectures for its designs, and chose to use UltraSoC to provide the necessary embedded analysis across both MIPS and ARM platforms.
UltraSoC’s embedded semiconductor IP simplifies development of such complex and powerful devices – even in heterogeneous multi-core systems. UltraSoC’s embedded analytic features support developers of systems in a broad range of applications, such as: safety and security in the automotive industry, where the move towards autonomous vehicles is creating unprecedented change and risk; optimization in big data applications, from search to data centers; and cybersecurity, including for the Internet of Things.
UltraSoC is an independent provider of SoC infrastructure that enables rapid development of embedded systems based on advanced SoC devices. The company is headquartered in Cambridge, United Kingdom. For more information visit www.ultrasoc.com
