TNS Partners with Aepona to provide GSMA OneAPI Solution
TNS to operate GSMA’s OneAPI Commercial Service in Canada using Aepona’s API Monetization Platform (AMP)
Belfast, United Kingdom – 22 May 2012 – Aepona announced today, that its API Monetization Platform (AMP) has been deployed by Transaction Network Services Inc. (TNS), a global provider of data communications and interoperability solutions, as the software engine powering the GSMA’s OneAPI commercial service, which was launched recently at the CTIA Wireless event in New Orleans. TNS was chosen to operate the OneAPI service by the GSMA in conjunction with the three major Canadian mobile operators – Bell Mobility, Rogers Communications and TELUS.
The GSMA OneAPI service offers developers a simple way to connect to and use a standard set of APIs (application programming interfaces) available from all of the major Canadian mobile operators, through a single connection and a streamlined, web-based contract. This allows developers to utilize mobile operator services such as Payment, Location and Messaging in their applications, greatly reduces time to market for developers, and significantly increases the addressable market for their applications and services.
Aepona’s AMP solution provides the full set of functionality required for TNS to operate the OneAPI service, including API exposure, management and monetization, cross-network API harmonization and routing, partner onboarding and management, revenue management and settlement, a developer portal with tools, resources and testing environment, and consumer consent / authorization management. Aepona has been involved with the GSMA’s OneAPI initiative since its inception in 2008, and provided and operated the platform for the original Canadian OneAPI commercial pilot, which was launched in February 2010.
Commenting on TNS’ decision to partner with Aepona, Dan Dooley, President of TNS’ Telecommunications Services Division, said: “Aepona is a provider with a fully productized platform for a commercial API service, including the all-important revenue management and monetization features. This, combined with their operational experience in running the OneAPI commercial pilot, made Aepona the natural choice to provide us with the solution for the OneAPI service”.
Michael Crossey, Chief Marketing Officer at Aepona, said: ”We are delighted to be working with TNS on this ground-breaking project. They have the operational scale and expertize in running large-scale commercial transaction services to help make the OneAPI service a huge commercial success, and we look forward to supporting them, as well as the GSMA and the three Canadian operators, in reaching that goal.”
