Arqiva to build digital infrastructure in Gibraltar

Arqiva has won a ‘design and build’ contract, valued at around £1 million, from the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority (GRA) to provide a digital broadcasting network in Gibraltar. The contract comes as Arqiva nears completion of the five-year digital TV switchover in the UK, which has involved the £630m re-engineering of over 1150 sites and 1200 man-years of work.

Arqiva has today announced that Vue Cinemas has joined Arqiva’s Digital Cinema delivery platform on the IS905 satellite. All 69 Vue cinemas will be equipped to receive automated electronic delivery of Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) which include feature films, trailers and advertising. The cinemas will also be able to access extensive live alternative content, from sports to the arts, transmitted from all around the world by Arqiva via IS905.
“What’s my line?” – Contact centres should tear up their scripts to deliver effective customer service, says Datapoint
Contact centres are in the spotlight again as the Employment Minister, Chris Grayling, used his speech to the Policy Exchange yesterday to argue for the repatriation of overseas call centres to the UK as a valuable means of job creation. Mr Grayling blamed offshoring for poor customer service, stating: “We all know how frustrating it can be speaking to a call centre operator overseas who works from a set script but doesn’t get what your problem is.” Perhaps a somewhat misguided view, claims Jim Close, UK Managing Director at Datapoint, when in fact we should be looking less at geography and more at what causes poor customer service:
