Fast, green and future-proof: LANCOM 831A – the ADSL2+ router for high-speed Internet access

London, UK, December 07, 2011 – LANCOM Systems presents the LANCOM 831A, heir to the successful LANCOM 821+ ADSL router. This completely redeveloped router is ideal for smaller businesses needing to combine broadband Internet access with professional networking.

It is based on a powerful hardware platform with much larger memory and faster processors, ensuring that the free LCOS updates from LANCOM can be installed for years to come. A content filter for up to 25 users can be enabled as an option.

The LANCOM 831A comes with an integrated multimode ADSL2+ modem for ADSL connections of the annex type A, B, J or M. This ensures that it can operate at all types of ADSL line, including future new-generation All-IP connections. A new green Gigabit Ethernet switch provides power-saving functions according to 802.3az for energy-efficient networks, allowing the fanless design of the device to be retained. Four user-configurable ports can be used for LAN, WAN (up to 2x load balancing with an additional ADSL, SDSL, VDSL or cable modem), DMZ, VLAN, or monitoring. The high-speed USB 2.0 port supplies power to USB media, which is particularly useful for directly connecting mobile-broadband sticks to the router as a backup for the ADSL line.
