Bases on Qualcomm’s 9206 modem, BG96 is global multimode Cat M1 and NB-IoT module with integrated GNSS. It offers a maximum data rate of 375Kbps downlink and 375Kbps uplink and is fully compliant with 3GPP R13 of LTE Cat M1 and Cat NB1 specification. It features ultra-low power consumption and provides pin-to-pin compatibility with Quectel LTE module EG91/EG95, Cat NB1 (NB-IoT) module BC95, UMTS/HSPA module UG95 and GSM/GPRS module M95.
BG96 is backward-compatible with existing EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks, ensuring it can connect even in remote areas devoid of LTE coverage. Thanks for proven success stories in different IoT verticals, BG96 is ideal for a wide range of applications such as Smart Metering, Asset Tracking, AVL, Health and Vending Machines.
Quectel has been proactively and closely cooperating with standardization firms, accredited test laboratories, Communication Regulatory Authorities (CRA), Governments and many others including but not limited to Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), across five continents in order to build up a trustworthy mechanism hence customers use the modules in their designs confidently.
In Japan, Quectel and KDDI are cooperating on easier IoT reachability through so called IoT Flow:
Basically, KDDI’s IoT Flow consists of three steps:
1. Pre-IoT, in which certain tests are conducted using KDDI’s simulator.
2. IoT-L (Lab Test), where rigorous tests are carried out in KDDI’s lab.
3. IoT-F (Field Test), finally real tests are conducted in KDDI’s network.
KDDI helps promote IoT devices to a wider audience and makes it easier for developers to establish connection to KDDI’s network. Moreover, KDDI has introduced a new concept called “IoT Interoperability Testing”, a well self-explanatory acceptance set up.
KDDI objective is illustrated in below chart, where Quectel (as global leading wireless module manufacture) has an essential role to play.
