Singapore, 15 July 2015 – As Asia Pacific continues to play a dominant role in global 5G developments, this year’s LTE Asia will examine how the most innovative operators are deploying VoLTE, video and RCS and how they are starting to optimize their networks through carrier aggregation, LTE-A and spectrum re-farming. Co-located with the 5G World Asia Pacific, Network Virtualization & SDN Asia, and Telco Big Data Summit, 2015’s conference and exhibition, running from 5-7 October, will bring together Asian telcos to explore new radio technologies and virtualized networks as the region begins the transition towards 5G.
Now in its 10th year, the conference boasts a comprehensive agenda delivered through a number of tracks aimed at both the advanced and emerging markets of the region. This year’s event will include, for the second year, the 5G Asia Summit which is designed to help delegates visualize the end-to-end 5G ecosystem and requirements needed to build the 5G network. Speakers at the 5G Asia Summit include Chih-Lin I, Chief Scientist, Wireless Technologies; Terry McCabe, CTO, Mobile Division, Mavenir; China Mobile Research Institute; and Erik Guttman, 3GPP SA Chairman, Samsung.
Dr Lee Hyeon Woo, Chair, 5G Forum Korea, who will join the 5G Asia Summit to address the technical requirements for 5G, commented on the importance of LTE in the 5G network and how the network might continue to progress after 5G: “5G is not the ultimate destination for mobile communication since we may have 6G, 7G and more in the future. So far in mobile communication, new generation has gradually replaced old generation. However, in my view, 5G will incorporate 4G LTE at its base and will go together for the time being. In other words, with the support of 4G, 5G will emphasize its features like ultra mobile broadband, low latency and massive connectivity.”
Alongside the event’s stellar speaker line-up, LTE Asia boasts a 50% operator attendance and will provide additional opportunities to delegates, including executive speed networking sessions and roundtables, which provide the ideal opportunity for visitors looking for exclusive face time with the region’s key players.
Following last year’s success, the LTE Asia Awards are back once again to celebrate the triumphs and innovations of the LTE and 5G market in Asia. With a variety of mobile broadband focussed award categories, the Awards will bring together the key industry stakeholders to celebrate LTE excellence. This year a new category for the ‘Biggest Contribution to 5G Development’ has been added to reflect the evolving landscape. The deadline for entries is 7 August 2015.
