Manx Telecom is inviting expressions of interest from customers who want to have a chance to be among the first on the Island to receive its new “Lightning Fast” Fibre broadband service next year. The company is also the first provider on the Island to reveal the prices of its fibre service.
Manx Telecom’s Lightning Fast fibre will be rolled out to consumers and businesses in selected areas starting early in 2018, depending upon customer demand and commercial viability. With guaranteed speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps it will be popular with anyone who wants the fastest broadband to maximise their online experience when downloading files, movies, video streaming, or gaming.
Stephen Kane, Head of Products at Manx Telecom, said: “The roll-out of our fibre broadband requires a huge investment, and it is a massive undertaking in terms of the engineering work that is required. The roll-out is being phased over a number of years in areas where demand is greatest, and where it is commercially viable. We are inviting expressions of interest now in order to help us identify where there is the greatest demand. For customers who want to be among the first on the Island to receive fibre broadband, we are encouraging them to show their interest by registering early at mt.im/fibre – and we are advising them to get others in their street, neighbourhood, village or town to register too.”
The registration page at mt.im/fibre includes a map which will show the location of expressions of interest, so those who are keen to be first on the list will be able to see how interest in their locality compares to other areas on the Island. mt.im/fibre also has a link to a page with full details about Lightning Fast fibre services.
Manx Telecom’s Lightning Fast fibre range features six guaranteed speed packages, ranging from 20 Mbps to 1,000 Mbps. One crucial difference is that Lightning Fast fibre broadband can deliver guaranteed router sync speeds because, unlike traditional copper broadband services, the speed delivered by fibre will not be affected by the length of the fixed line between the broadband cabinet or exchange and the customer’s property, making this product ideal for consumer and business broadband users who demand the highest guaranteed levels of performance. Customers also benefit because the fibre service will mean that they no longer need a fixed line to access high-speed broadband.
