AT&T Building Most Advanced Mobile Broadband Experience in Dallas-Fort Worth Area, Announces 2011 Network Upgrade Plans

AT&T Plans to Upgrade Thousands of Antennas, Hundreds of Cell Sites and Expand Backhaul in 2011 in DFW Area to Enable 4G Speeds, Increase Wireless Network Capacity

Dallas, Texas, February 24, 2011

AT&T, building on its strong 2010 record of network accomplishments, today announced a series of network improvements planned for this year in Dallas-Fort Worth and surrounding communities.  The network enhancement plans are part of AT&T’s overall initiative to deliver the nation’s most advanced mobile broadband experience and make the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network even faster.

David Nichols, president of AT&T Texas, said AT&T plans to continue its commitment to delivering superior service to its Dallas-Fort Worth-area customers in 2011 with an aggressive plan of network improvements. Plans include:

Replacing more than 5,000 antennas at more than 900 cell sites, across the metroplex and along major highways, to enhance voice quality, reduce dropped calls and deliver more efficient, consistent mobile broadband speeds. More than half of the antenna replacements have already been completed.

HP Joins with Business Matchmaking to Launch 2011 Nationwide Events for America’s Small Businesses

PALO ALTO, Calif. -(24.02.2011)- HP today announced it is participating with Business Matchmaking Inc., a not-for-profit corporation supporting procurement opportunities for small businesses, to launch the 2011 Business Matchmaking event series.

Now in its eighth consecutive year, Business Matchmaking provides opportunities for small businesses to secure contracts from federal, state and local government agencies, as well as many Fortune 500 companies at key events and through an online network. In addition, the program offers education, training, counseling and resources.

Through regional events held across the country, and in online sessions, Business Matchmaking has enabled more than 77,000 small business sales appointments resulting in more than $8 billion in contracts granted. All events are free to both participating small businesses and representative buyers.

MTN and GIZ sign development partnership to manage e-waste

Africa’s leading telecoms company MTN Group has signed a development partnership with German-based public-benefit enterprise Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to manage the safe disposal of e-waste and foster enterprise development for e-waste handlers.

GIZ signed the partnership with MTN on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The partnership seeks to raise awareness among the general public and corporate businesses about the safe recycling, management and disposal of e-waste, and provide support to fledgling small and medium-sized companies.

Stephane Richard named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of France Telecom-Orange

At its meeting on 23 February, the Board of Directors of France Telecom formally noted Didier Lombard’s decision to hand over his responsibilities as Chairman and, as proposed by the Group’s Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, named Stephane Richard to the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 March 2011.

The Board recorded its appreciation for the exemplary way in which the transition has been conducted between the outgoing and incoming Chairmen and extended its thanks to Didier Lombard for his contribution to the Group over many years.
